Pre-Med students are welcome to ask questions on our exclusive members-only chat where physicians and medical students help answer pre-med students’ questions. The chat serves as a community where Pre-Med students can feel supported in their journey to medical school. Pre-Med students are encouraged to participate in the chat to receive support from the members.
As part of JOWMA’s podcast series, one of our JOWMA Pre-Med Committee members interviews doctors of different specialties. Some of the topics discussed include medical training and a typical day in the life of that specialist. This is a great resource for pre-med students who would like to learn more about medical training and different medical specialties.
This program offers mentorship and support to Jewish women pursuing careers as physicians, helping students navigate each stage of their journey. In addition to a formal one-on-one mentorship pairing, there are also active WhatsApp chats where students have 24/7 access to post any questions or concerns and can have them answered in real-time by other students, residents, and attending physicians.
JOWMA partners with the Ezras Cholim Health Center (located in Kiryas Joel, NY) to further expose our students to clinical experiences and complex cases. In this program, students shadow internists at the facility in New York.
Located in South Florida, we provide shadowing experiences for premed students in a few specialties. Working in both private practice and local hospitals, students get first-hand experience in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Infectious disease
- Interventional Pain and Anesthesiology
- Podiatry
JOWMA Pre-Med partners with CHEMED, an organization that provides comprehensive, integrated healthcare to individuals and families in Lakewood, NJ and the surrounding areas. During their time at the facility, students are able to see how a doctor interacts with patients, performs procedures, converses with coworkers, and even spends their lunch breaks.
