JOWMA is proud to offer multiple mediums to support current and future Jewish physicians. Our programs include Grand Rounds with CME accreditation, Professional Development series, mentoring, and medical student electives.
Grand Rounds are an integral component of medical education to help healthcare professionals keep up to date in evolving medical practice. JOWMA Grand Rounds aims to showcase our physician members, as well as provide continuing medical education credits for physicians. Physicians and allied healthcare professionals are welcome to attend.

The JOWMA Mentoring Program plays a pivotal role in the development of physician trainees and medical students, offering personalized guidance, support, and wisdom from experienced attending physicians. Through mentorship, these future doctors gain invaluable insights, nurturing their clinical skills, professional growth, and fostering a deeper understanding of the complexities within the medical field.
The advances in modern medicine have spawned a wide variety of ethical dilemmas in such areas as genetics, reproductive technology, the determination of death, organ, transplantation, euthanasia, and assisted suicide. While the secular ethical approach to these issues is often well publicized and adequately represented at many medical schools, the religious viewpoint, and in particular, that of Orthodox Judaism, is rarely given a voice. This half-module (one month) guided reading elective allows the student to choose a topic of their interest and will provide an overview of the Orthodox Jewish approach to medical issues by analyzing texts from the Bible, Talmud, and Rabbinic commentaries throughout the ages.
Prerequisites: As many of the texts are in the Hebrew language, a rudimentary knowledge of Hebrew would be helpful, although not essential.

He is the author of The Anatomy of Jewish Law: A Fresh Dissection of the Relationship Between Medicine, Medical History and Rabbinic Literature (Published by Koren Publishers/OU Press/YU Press, 2022), and Pondering Pre-Modern(a) Pandemics in Jewish History: Essays Inspired by and Written during the Covid-19 Pandemic by an Emergency Medicine Physician (Shikey Press, 2022).
